Looking back at Genesis 18:14 where it asks, “Is anything too hard for the Lord?” Of course, the answer is no. There is nothing too hard for the Lord. He can do far more than we can ever imagine. He is able to do it all.

If He is able to create all this and keep it sustained, then He can do far, far, more than we can ever imagine. I have an example of His power when I was on a wagon in Arizona.

We were camped on the side of a mountain and a big storm blew in. Lightning flashes lit up the sky as bright as day. Hitting so fast that we had no time to think or do anything. It was just hang tight and let it blow by. But in that moment of time I saw the power of the almighty God. It was awe inspiring and terrible frightening. All that came from Him. He may of not particularly sent that storm, but that power and creation was from Him. That was a showing of His power.

If He can do that basically subconsciously, then He can do so much more than we ever thought. So, when we ask Him for help we need to ask with the knowledge that he can and will do more than we think. He may not do it the way we want or think, and this is our problem.

We want things a certain way and when that does not happen, we say God does not care or He is against us. Driving some away to other things that make them feel good and right. Others walk away before they ever even experience Him for who He is.

When we pray we tend to give up in about three seconds when what we pray for does not happen. We tend to weaken quickly. We need to be more like George Muller. He prayed for three different men over a time frame of fifty-two years. One came to believe in Christ within a few years of his praying. Another took twenty-five years of prayer. The last man took the whole of fifty-two years. It was only fifty-two years because Muller died before the man believed. But those fifty-two years of prayer were not wasted. No, because within a short time after Muller’s death, that last man believed in Jesus for salvation.

Isn’t that just amazing? God is able to do so much more than we can ever imagine. He can do far more abundantly than we ever thought or could ask. He is an amazing God. He is so amazing that we cannot even fathom what all He can and will do. We do not need to weaken in our perseverance because we have a God who is able to do more than we think. What is even more amazing, He will do more for us than we can ever think.

He is a God of grace and love towards those who are His. If you have believed in Christ then you are His. His grace will sustain and perfect you, His new creation in Christ. Since we are that, and since Paul said, “He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ” (Phil. 1:6), we can rest in the fact that God will do far more for us than we could ever think or imagine.

  1. Luke your words are piercing to the heart. I did not know you did this. I really enjoy your post. Do you have a podcast or an audio version?

    1. Yes, I do. I have a few episodes on it but haven’t put one in a while. I am about to start doing the blog posts on it, which will be twice a week. And maybe one extra that is different from the blogs. It is called Speaking Scripturally just like the blog and can be found on all podcast mediums, as far as I know.
